RAVN provides combat or high maneuver training for pilots, RDT&E, and maintenance services with its fully owned fleet of aircraft.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Trade Compliance Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our company's trade operations comply with all relevant regulations and standards. This role requires a strong understanding of import/export regulations, experience in trade compliance, and the ability to work effectively with various internal and external stakeholders. This role will be located at Ellington Airfield in Houston, TX., reporting to the Director of Contracts.


What you get to do:

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable import and export laws and regulations, including but not limited to EAR, ITAR, OFAC, and customs regulations.

  • Stay current with changes in trade regulations and communicate updates to relevant departments.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

  • Prepare and maintain required import/export documentation, including shipping invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and other necessary records.

  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of required reports and filings.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

  • Conduct risk assessments of trade activities and implement measures to mitigate potential compliance risks.

  • Develop and maintain compliance programs, policies, and procedures.

Training and Support:

  • Provide training and guidance to employees on trade compliance matters.

  • Act as a point of contact for trade compliance inquiries from internal teams and external partners.

Audits and Investigations:

  • Conduct internal audits of trade compliance practices and procedures.

  • Assist in investigations and resolution of compliance issues and violations.

Vendor and Supplier Management:

  • Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure compliance with trade regulations.

  • Review and approve international shipping documentation from suppliers.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with legal, logistics, procurement, and other departments to ensure seamless compliance with trade regulations.

  • Liaise with government agencies and regulatory bodies as needed.



Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Trade, Law, or related field.
  • US Citizen.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in trade compliance or a related field.

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. and international trade regulations, including EAR, ITAR, OFAC, and customs regulations.

  • Experience with import/export documentation and processes.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Export Compliance Officer, Certified Customs Specialist) is a plus.

  • Familiarity with trade compliance policies and procedures.

  • Familiarity with government trade compliance websites and tools (e.g., U.S. State Department).

  • Experience with Technical Assistance Agreements (TAA), DSP-5 (Permanent Export License), DSP-61 (Temporary Import License), and other related applications.
