Job description

About us:

Pacifico Power is a startup focused on developing, constructing, owning, and managing behind-the-meter commercial energy projects. The company will expand into storage, micro-grids, and community-based energy distribution as the regulations continue to loosen and allow for these alternative means of providing power.

Pacifico Power “PP” is an affiliate of Pacifico Energy Group “PEG”, a leading renewable energy company with a focus on utility-scale renewable projects in Asia. Over the last 10 years Pacifico Energy has developed over 1 GW of renewable energy projects worldwide, equating to $3.5 billion of investment.

Pacifico Power is seeking a talented Systems Control Engineer to join our innovative team. The Systems Control Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing control systems for our renewable energy facilities, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. This position requires a strong background in control theory, programming, and renewable energy technologies.

What you get to do:

  • Working with a DAS partner to define DAS requirements, design DAS systems, and procure required equipment (meters, CTs, PTs, network switches etc.)

  • Work with ESS partners to implement required metering and controls for system function.

  • Develop, design, and procure controls related equipment for microgrids.

  • Specify, purchase, commission and troubleshoot DAS/control system hardware and instrumentation (field mounted and panel mounted instruments)

  • Assist in the commissioning process for all control systems and DAS.

  • Implement and test control strategies to optimize energy production, grid integration, and asset management.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external consultants including engineering, construction, operations, and software development to integrate control systems into existing infrastructure.

  • Perform system analysis and troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve control-related issues, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

  • Participate in the commissioning and startup of new renewable energy projects, providing technical expertise and support as needed.

  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies in control systems and renewable energy, incorporating new developments into project designs and methodologies.

  • Document design specifications, test procedures, and operating guidelines for control systems, ensuring clear communication and knowledge transfer within the organization.

  • Provide training and support to operations staff on the use and maintenance of control systems, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Job requirements

What you bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in control systems engineering, preferably in the renewable energy industry.

  • Strong knowledge of control theory, including feedback control, optimization, and system identification.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or C/C++.

  • Experience with SCADA systems, PLC programming, and industrial automation platforms.

  • Familiarity with renewable energy technologies, including solar photovoltaics, wind turbines, and energy storage systems. Microgrid experience preferred.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and departments.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
