We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Senior Accountant with expertise in federal cost accounting, government contract compliance, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently with little day-to-day supervision, is meticulous in managing financial data, and flexible in adapting to changing requirements. This role is critical in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with complex government regulations, and supporting A2G’s continued success in the defense and aerospace sector.


What you get to do:

Federal Cost Accounting & Government Contract Compliance:

  • Apply Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and FAR Parts 30 & 31 to ensure compliance in all accounting practices.

  • Maintain accurate project and contract accounting in alignment with DCAA audit standards.

  • Manage Service Contract Act (SCA) compliance, including wage determinations, fringe benefits, and recordkeeping.

  • Support internal and external audits with detailed, compliant financial records.

  • Partner with internal teams to ensure proper classification of expenses and revenue under government contracts.

  • Stay up to date on changes in federal cost accounting regulations and ensure policies and processes align with requirements.

Financial Accounting:

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable/receivable.

  • Perform reconciliations of bank statements, general ledgers, and financial reports.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Prepare financial statements, reports, budgets, and coordinate with external accounting partners as needed.

  • Analyze financial data and assist with corporate cash flow forecasting.

  • Collaborate with Contracts to maintain project accounting.

  • Monitor internal controls and assess financial risk.

  • Assist with loan origination and management.


Job requirements

  • Degree in Accounting or equivalent; CPA preferred.

  • Proven expertise in federal cost accounting for government contracts.

  • In-depth knowledge of CAS, FAR Parts 30 & 31, DCAA compliance, and government contract accounting principles.

  • Strong experience managing Service Contract Act (SCA) compliance.

  • Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal oversight.

  • Comfortable owning tasks end-to-end and making informed decisions.

  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to stay flexible and adapt to evolving priorities and requirements.

  • Proficiency in multi-state payroll processing and tax filings.

  • Experience in Sage (or similar ERP system) 

  • Proficiency in Unanet (or similar accounting systems) and Workday payroll platform.
    Solid understanding of GAAP, revenue recognition, and accounting fundamentals.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.
