We are seeking a skilled Project Engineering Manager to lead multidisciplinary design, engineering, and execution efforts for complex power generation projects, including gas power generation for microgrids. This role will be responsible for managing all project phases—from conceptual design through construction, commissioning, and handover—ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and on-time, on-budget delivery.
This role will be responsible for managing all engineering efforts of project development phase and ensure flawless transition from conceptual design through construction, commissioning and handover- ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance and on-time, on-budget delivery. In this role you will be managing a small in-house team of engineers with a primary focus on managing external work scopes with engineering contractors and consultants.
This position is based in Dallas, TX and the ideal candidate will be within commutable distance. Occasional travel (up to 15%) may be required.
What you get to do:
Project Management
Lead cross-functional engineering teams, consultants, suppliers, and OEMs to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
Oversee and coordinate project feasibility studies, conceptual and FEED designs for power generation systems.
Coordinate with external parties, engineering consultants, suppliers (turbine OEMs, Transformers, BESS, Substations), contractors, EPCs…etc. and collect necessary data and information for project design and execution.
Liaise with other teams during procurement, construction, installation and commissioning activities to ensure compliance with QA/QC and safety protocols.
Engineering & Design Management
Develop work scopes, manage engineering request for proposals (RFP) process and manage external engineering interfaces.
Manage and electrical design and review design deliverables in conjunction with civil, mechanical, and control systems disciplines.
Interpret and validate Single Line Diagrams (SLD) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Oversee electrical packaging, layouts, and equipment integration (especially gas turbines, transformers, substations and PV solar, and energy storage).
Conduct feasibility studies, conceptual design, simplified heat and mass balances, and thermal performance analyses.
Conduct feasibility studies, technical evaluations, and optimization of thermal and hybrid power systems.
Compliance & Risk Management
Lead SIL, HAZOP/HAZID workshops, identify risks, and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards including air permitting and emissions modeling.
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including Off-takers, OEMS, permitting authorities and regulatory bodies.
Provide regular updates, technical documentation, and progress reports to leadership and clients.
Job requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (Master’s preferred).
15+ years of total experience, including 5+ years in project engineering management for data centers, critical infrastructure projects, thermal power generation or energy infrastructure projects.
Proven experience with power generation and critical infrastructures: microgrids, data centers, simple cycle and or combined cycle power plants (CCPP),
Strong technical expertise in electrical design, and system integration.
Experience managing RAM (Reliability, Availability and Maintenance ability) studies.
Experience managing SIL, HAZOP/HAZID processes and environmental permitting.
Familiarity with engineering design tools and project management software (e.g., MS Project).
PE or EIT certification preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
