Job description
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Business Development & Capture Analyst to support growth initiatives within a small defense contracting company serving the Department of Defense (DoD) aircraft services, aviation, and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) markets.
This entry-level position supports the full business development lifecycle, including market research, opportunity identification, pipeline management, capture planning, proposal development, and customer engagement. The individual will work closely with executive leadership, program management, operations, and finance to identify potential business opportunities, coordinate pursuit activities, and prepare professional business development and proposal materials. As a key member of a lean organization, the successful candidate must demonstrate initiative, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn multiple aspects of federal business development. The position offers opportunities for professional development and advancement into capture management and business development leadership roles.
What you get to do:
Research DoD and related opportunities in aircraft services, aviation, and ISR markets.
Monitor government solicitations, industry notices, forecasts, and prime-contractor opportunities.
Maintain the opportunity pipeline, customer and partner contacts, and related records.
Help evaluate opportunities by summarizing requirements, deadlines, customer needs, and potential fit.
Support capture planning, including customer research, competitor information, teaming research, and win themes.
Draft, edit, and coordinate clear, accurate technical and business responses to RFIs, RFPs, and other solicitations.
Gather information from operations, program management, finance, and subject-matter experts, and translate it into well-organized proposal content.
Develop and maintain proposal outlines, compliance matrices, schedules, and review materials.
Prepare customer briefings, capability presentations, meeting materials, and other business development documents.
Help create and update capability statements, past-performance materials, and corporate content.
Support outreach and relationship-building with government customers, prime contractors, and industry partners.
Assist with pricing and budget coordination by collecting inputs and working with company leadership and finance.
Track follow-up actions, meeting notes, deliverables, and key opportunity milestones.
Support proposal handoffs and help ensure proposed approaches reflect the company’s operational capabilities.
Take on other business development and growth-support tasks as needed.
Job requirements
3–5 years of relevant experience in business development, proposal development, technical writing, capture support, program coordination, operations, or a related field.
Demonstrated ability to write, edit, or coordinate clear business or technical documents. Experience contributing to RFIs, RFPs, proposals, or customer briefings is strongly preferred.
Strong writing, editing, research, and organizational skills, including the ability to gather input from subject-matter experts and meet deadlines.
Familiarity with the defense, aviation, aerospace, or federal contracting environment, or relevant military experience.
Ability to work independently, manage several assignments at once, and collaborate with leadership and operational teams.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; experience with Excel and CRM or opportunity-tracking tools is helpful.
Preferred:
Experience supporting DoD customers, aircraft services, manned airborne ISR, aviation operations, or related programs.
Experience preparing or coordinating RFI/RFP responses, proposal volumes, compliance matrices, capability statements, or customer presentations.
Familiarity with federal acquisition terminology, government solicitations, and proposal deadlines.
Experience working in a small business or lean organization where employees handle responsibilities across several functions.
A bachelor’s degree in English, communications, business, aviation, public administration, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
What Success Looks Like
The successful candidate keeps pipeline and pursuit activities organized, helps the company respond to opportunities on time, and produces clear, professional written and briefing materials. They make it easier for leadership and subject-matter experts to contribute to business development and, over time, build the knowledge and skills to take on greater responsibility for coordinating capture efforts.
