About the role:

RAVN Aerospace is headquartered in Ellington Field, Texas with various operating sites around the country. We offer a wide range of aviation services to assist governments, international organizations, and private sector entities. The aviation services fall into three main categories: Air-to-Air threat replication, Close Air Support, and Test and Evaluation. We provide on and off-site aircraft operation for a diverse customer base in all areas of the aviation and aerospace industry with operating locations around the globe.

We maintain a fleet of three Aero Vodochody L-39ZA (Albatros) and ten BAe L-59 (Hawk) aircraft; both have repeatedly proven to be extremely reliable in all environmental conditions, and both can carry a variety of sensors and payloads.

As a member of the maintenance department as our Aviation Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical components and systems on the aircrafts. With a strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols, you ensure the functionality and reliability of electrical systems while documenting maintenance actions and coordinating with other team members.


This role will be based in San Antonio, Texas or Houston, Texas.


What you get to do:

  • Route, clamp and tie various lengths of wire bundles following specific wires paths as shown on drawings and install/connect necessary equipment, ground studs, bonding straps and connectors

  • Utilize a variety of manual hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, wire cutters, heat shrink gun, specialized aircraft test equipment, The mechanic will be required to access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests

  • Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, written instructions

  • Assemble, modify, and install wire bundles, conductors and other electrical components, to include radio frequency cabling and antenna systems

  • Document maintenance and repair actions, equipment status tags, logs, parts requests

  • Perform assigned duties while wearing required safety equipment

  • Perform assigned duties on all shifts without encumbrances due to weather or physical location and conditions

  • Work under supervision and achieves technical guidance, as required from supervisor or higher-level technician

  • Able to use a variety of manual hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, wire cutters, heat shrink gun, specialized aircraft test equipment, The mechanic will be required to access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests

  • Replace or repair electrical components

  • Connect navigation instruments like the altimeter and airspeed indicators, as well as vertical speed indicators.

  • Install navigation and computer software as well as electrical panels

  • Use flight data to diagnose malfunctioning equipment

  • Test equipment and components for quality and functionality

  • Keep a record of all repairs and replacements

  • Test electronic instruments with circuit testers, oscilloscopes, and voltmeters

  • Interprete flight test data to diagnose performance-related issues

  • Use hand tools, power tools, and soldering irons to install instrument panels

  • Replace and repair malfunctioning components and systems

  • Keeping detailed records of maintenance and repairs

  • Coordinating work with engineers, technicians, or other aircraft maintenance personnel.

  • Fabricate parts and testing aids when necessary

  • Produce parts and components

  • Build prototypes and models of circuits, instruments, or systems

  • Assemble and test electrical components, subsystems, and systems

  • Use computer-aided design and drafting applications to design modifications to avionics systems

  • Design equipment and component configurations

  • Install and test complex avionics equipment on spacecraft and aircraft

  • Ensure that all avionics equipment is in working order and does not interfere with other electronic devices before taking off

  • Remove, repair, and reinstall any problematic avionics equipment before an aircraft can be cleared for takeoff

  • Execute complex and reliable soldering of components for navigation, missile control, and communication

  • Assemble and put together electrical components

  • Provide accurate diagnosis of complex avionics issues

  • Organize ground support and equipment testing for flight tests

  • Analyze flight test data to identify malfunctions and examine the operation of electrical components

  • Coordinate all work with engineers, technicians, maintenance personnel, and other technical staff

  • Keep detailed records of any repairs or work done on the aircraft





Job requirements

Desired experience for aircraft electrician includes:

  • Thorough knowledge of technical publications related aviation maintenance

  • Must have knowledge of the scope and limitation of various categories of maintenance and their application to the contract unit

  • Must know theory and principles of engine operations

  • 4-6 Years Experience as an Aircraft Electrician

  • Repair procedures and replacement of parts

  • Must have basic knowledge of electrical theory
